I’m pretty sure I’ve only smoked once, and yep, it was with you, Jensen and the hobos. If we did it more than once, I seriously do not remember, but any time I’ve ever done it was at your house, for certain.

Just to let you know I saw this podcast’s subject and then went to blockbuster and rented Moon, then listened to your podcast. I loved Moon. In the opening credits when I saw Kaya Scodelario was in it I got really excited. Too bad she’s barely in the movie. If you don’t know who she is she’s Effy from Skins. Skins is awesome! Jason if you smoked weed for 14 years you’ll love Skins. Check it out.

Joe – You’re probably right, but at least you don’t have a podcast.

It’s not necessarily a “take-out” thing, but if you called any business, and they answered another call in the middle of talking to you and took care of them first, I think it’s rude. You put first caller (you) on hold and answer the other line only to put them on hold so that first caller can be taken care of. Again, fully aware that I may have overreacted, but it does piss me off.

I’ve never called in a takeout order & have been involved with takeout about 3 times (2 Chinese & 1 pizza), so I’m not sure what to tell you. Why do they even have two lines where you can hear what’s going on? Is it a part line or something? Shouldn’t they need to put you on hold so you can hear some Kenny G?

I think I was drunk the first time I smoked weed, but I do remember feeling like “now I can say I smoked weed.” I’d already dropped acid a few times so it was a pretty big let down.

CQ – I agree with Jason – it’s ok. The ending is kind of weak, but the sets and all that are fun. It’s not really something you can recommend to everyone.

So – what the hell is Ultimate X about? I NEED TO KNOW!!!! Marvel’s ads keep taunting me with their “Who is Ultimate X?” question. If they’re not going to tell me, I’m not going to read it.

Anyway – I would like to point out I’m two for two on recommendations
(other than the D&D in prison thing).

I’m going to check out Chew, on your recommendation. I know you guys have some thing against manga, but Akira is probably the best comics I’ve ever read. Still recommend that if you haven’t read it!

My scary movies from childhood were/are:

Salem’s Lot – I saw this when it aired when I was 4. That kid scratching on the glass still freaks me out. Strangely I remember a scene that seems to not be in it when I re-saw it 15 years ago. The scene was nails coming up out of a cargo crate with the vampire’s coffin inside. Also it seems like the crate was in a dumpster so it totally might’ve been a dream inspired by the movie.

Dawn of the Dead – I thought was a documentary because of the way it’s shot & that I was 7. Still incredible & has probably influenced everything creative I have ever worked on.

Children of the Corn – I saw this when I was 9. That kid cutting the pentagram on his chest & saying, “It’s my birthday” probably led to me being a cutter when I was a teenager. Also it gave me mixed feelings of whether evil was cool or not cool.

The Fly – I was 11 when this came out? I could’ve sworn I was 9. The whole thing that freaked me out was I felt like Jeff Goldblum was smart in a similar way to me (of course these days they call that Asperger’s Syndrome) so I could relate to him.

Who knows who actually puts in the word balloons on the big books at Marvel. Probably the same dude that fills the toner in the copier.

I think my one panel per page mini’s work well for inexperienced artists for this reason. Though then again people get confused by needing flip a flip over. “Half the pages are upside down! Your prints are fucked up!”

Like you I was always aware of Rocketeer, but had never read it. I was always under the impression it was a renewal of an old book (like The Spirit or The Shield or Black Hood (all of which were relaunched around that time)). So I have to say I’m impressed he could make something so iconic with such little output. Of course how many issues of the Turtles were there before they were a hot property?

Looking forward to From Beyond. A more recent movie in the same style of goodness is The Attic Expeditions.

Still listening to this episode – will comment more, maybe.

Incidentally, I think this version of “Clash of the Titans” IS trying to be serious, which is why it will be lame. It’s a cheap theater watch for me at best.

We have been kinda lacking in the occasional filler “just for fun” episode.

Good episode, boys. It felt a lot more loose than previous episodes, which was refreshing. Probably because you weren’t confined to the ‘review’ format. It was a fun one. Merry Christmas (three days late)!

The Batman thing… Batman, it turns out, is not really dead, nor did he ever die. However, he is lost in time, and DC announced, one month into the new status quo, that they’re bringing him back this summer. So, basically before the newest storyline has even a chance to breath, DC’s already back pedaling, which is a shame, since the new stuff is actually getting critical acclaim. But, I’ll be buying Batman as long as Grant Morrison is writing it. And I’ll be buying Daredevil no matter what, because I’m a big geek for DD, and bitching about the continuity of it despite myself.

Did not know that porn originally tried to go for Blu-Ray, I had only ever heard about the HD-DVD, which is why I was surprised when Blu-Ray won out. Guess I know why, now.

My experience with Daredevil was not having read anything since Born Again (20 years ago now? I am old…) & when I got Yellow I thought he’d switched back to that costume. Or that it was part of one of the Marvel relaunches to fix continuity they do every five years. (Now there’s an episode, no particular book, but just a discussion of all the big-crossover things that Marvel/DC have done to try to fix continuity problems & how they are happening closer & closer together. Batman died & was brought back to life before the story finished a year ago, right?)

That Kevin Smith Daredevil stuff was pretty much the worst Daredevil thing ever. But it probably did co-ordinate better with the movie than any previous Daredevil books.

My understanding is that porn wanted to go with Blu-Ray, but originally the only manufacturing company was Sony & they refused to make the porn discs. When porn went to HD-DVD & Sony realized they might lose the format battle & that would also jeopardize the Playstation 3’s success they decided they could manufacture porn.

I’d like to see GI Joe Resolute, but it’s a “Very Long Wait” on Netflix right now.

I am a huge GI Joe fan. I went into the movie with realistic expectations – bad acting and dialogue coupled with cool explosions. I got bad action and dialogue, a horrible plot and crappy special effects. It made Mortal Kombat: Annihilation look like an Oscar winner by comparison. However, GI Joe: Resolute is awesome. I’m hoping we get more GI Joe like that.
