Planetary Special No. 3

Planetary 3

“Big Man” is also unacceptable.

Normally, better late than never is a good thing, but in our case, it’s a punishment. Jason and I wrap up the final issues of Planetary in the last of our dedicated specials. Sadly, we don’t talk that much about Planetary. As always though, we express our love for a John Cassaday and a Warren Ellis, and throw some extra love to comic stalwart Jerry Ordway, artist of the Planetary/Justice League Elseworlds crossover.

Trudge along with us.

Wrapping up 2009, Jason and I bring you this special bonus episode – the second of three – as we review Warren Ellis and John Cassaday’s epic Planetary. We discuss issues 10-18, plus the Planetary/Batman crossover. This is truly one of the worst episodes we’ve ever recorded, so make sure to check out Episode 58 to balance the scales with one of our best. Anyhoo, we also talk about MTV cartoons, Mario Van Peebles, Highlander, and handshake etiquette.

Planetary 01

It’s a strange podcast, let’s keep it that way.

On this special bonus episode – the first of three – we review Warren Ellis and John Cassiday’s epic Planetary. We discuss issues 1-9, plus the Planetary/Authority crossover, as well as our usual Gutter Trash antics that veer wildly off-topic, like Slayer vs. Slaughter, the secret origin of Snake-Eyes, the rules of Christmas decorations, Pink Floyd and my close family friend The Rock.

Episode 34: Selina’s Big Score

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Recorded on June 18, 2009.

34

Longest Episode Ever? I think so. It sure feels like it.

This week on a less than purrfect episode of Gutter Trash, we review Darwyn Cooke’s noir Catwoman graphic novel, Selina’s Big Score. We also discuss the odd celebrity appeal of Dave Mustaine and Scott Ian, and I do a piss-poor Patrick Warburton impression while Jason and I reminisce over The Tick cartoon. Later on, I get a work related phone call, and Jason prepares for a big day.

Episode 26: Star Trek – Debt of Honor

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Recorded on April 24, 2009.

Trek

Boldly going where we really shouldn’t have.

This week on an episode with more word balloons per capita than your average podcast, we review Star Trek: Debt of Honor, a graphic novel by Chris Claremont and Adam Hughes. And by “review”, I mean “complain”. And by “complain”, I mean “bitch”. And hey, I’ve finally ditched that shitty third person speak! It makes it easier when I have no idea about the rest of the content of the episode. It’s not my job to listen to and remember this stuff. I lived it.
