Episode 63: Asterios Polyp

Recorded on January 31, 2010.

63

Nothing funny here. Just go read Asterios Polyp.

This week on the show, Jason and I review David Mazzucchelli’s debut(?!) graphic novel and masterpiece, Asterios Polyp. We also make the decision to try to be drunk more when recording, have dinner with our former Mayor at a restaurant staffed with psychic Mexicans. I declare that I’ll never see Avatar, and review the movie Big Fan. Finally we wrap up by discussing old people fuckin’.

Episode 63: Asterios Polyp

Music by Legbone, Black Wolf Fight and The Barnhills.

I like how Eric, who I haven’t met in person, corrected you when you said my name.

Anyway – I would like to point out I’m two for two on recommendations
(other than the D&D in prison thing).

I’m going to check out Chew, on your recommendation. I know you guys have some thing against manga, but Akira is probably the best comics I’ve ever read. Still recommend that if you haven’t read it!

Whatever you’ve done to keep the volume steady throughout the podcast, it’s working. It used to peak a lot (meaning my ears would bleed when you two would laugh into the mike and the music was a lot louder than the commentary), but everything seems normalized now!

  1. The levels are a lot better. Are you running it through a compressor or is it all the pantyhose?
