I actually thought about reading this, but I’m glad I didn’t get around to it as I’m generally pickier than you guys. I bought those original Evil Ernies from Eternity & remember them fondly (sold them in 1996 for a couple hundred bucks). In defense of the dude who recommended it, I imagine it’s like seeing the new Transformers movie or something where you have the nostalgia covering the crappiness.

No amount of nostalgia is that powerful. And don’t pretend you’re better than us. “Pickier”. You try scrounging for things to read.
By pickier I mean I don’t care how good the drawing or writing is if I don’t like the story. Which is shallow on my part I suppose. However I can forgive pretty crappy art if I like the story. But I don’t read comics as much as I should lately. Half of the ones I’ve read have probably been to know what you starz are talking about.
Here’s a list of things I’m scared you guys won’t like, most nostalgia based:
Marvel Comics #1 (Golden Age, I think it’s just 64 pages & they did a reprint a few years ago that was fine.)
Amazing Adventures featuring Killraven (I think they made an “essential” of this in B&W, most of it is written by Don McGregor & drawn by P Craig Russell, I think it’s about 18 issues)
Life on Another Planet (Will Eisner – I could theoretically loan you this)
Ex-Mutants (Ron Lim & David Lawrence run – I could theoretically loan you this)
The Thing (1980s adventures on the Secret Wars planet when Reed Richards leaves him there)
The Incredible Hulk (when he’s wandering dimensions maybe 301-315?)
Kabuki (David Mack)
Xenon (it’s a manga, no idea if it’s currently available, I think 24 issues or so)
Daredevil: Born Again
Spider-Man: Kraven’s Last Hunt

Pretty much the only comics I read are for the show, and yeah, if the art’s excellent but the story’s crap, then yeah, I can’t enjoy it, but am more open to crappy art and a great story.
I think I own Life on Another Planet and enjoyed it when I read it (about 10 yrs ago or so), I read Kraven’s Last Hunt about 5 years ago and liked it, It’s been forever since I’ve read Born Again, I’d be willing to go back to it. I’ve read a handful of Kabuki, but not enough to have a strong opinion. The rest I’ve never read, but would, theoretically, not be opposed to.
